Program

3 new adult day programs, including one program for those with dementia, and assisted living respite care for 18 are included in this building. The client’s existing adult day program areas house in an existing building are to be converted into new administrative space.

Site

A small site directly adjacent to the client’s existing building, a 1940’s converted elementary school, was purchased.

Solution

An entry court/drop-off area is created between the existing and new building, with an occupied bridge piece connecting the two buildings at the second level. Public and administrative space occupy the first series of spaces from the entry, with 3 large day “Great Rooms” with living, dining, activity kitchen and quiet/sleeping rooms directly adjacent to the public spaces. Thoughtful architectural detailing allows the new and old buildings to form a unified whole.
