Program

The Client's program called for 12 private bedrooms, common living room, dining room and kitchen, overnight visitor guest suite, staff spaces and a chapel in a homelike setting.

Site

A 2-acre site was selected adjacent to a regional hospital with commanding views of the San Juan Mountains.

Solution

An "L"-shaped building allows the 12 units to fit within a compact plan and more residential feeling mass. An open Great Room serves as living room and dining room for clients and family. The Chapel occupies the crux corner between the wings, faces the contemplative courtyard, and is on axis with the building entry sequence.
